رتن ناتھ سرشار کا تخیل لکھنؤ کی قدیم تہذیب میں رنگا ہوا تھا وہ اس کے ہر پہلو، ہر گوشے کے رمز شناس تھے اور اس کی مصوری پر حاکمانہ قدرت رکھتے تھے لیکن جب وہ اس دائرے سے باہر قدم رکھتے تو انکا قلم بے زبان سا ہوجاتا۔سرشار نے اپنی نثر میں مشکل اور ثقیل الفاظ کا استعمال کیا ہے۔ خاص کر فارسی الفاظ کےاستعمال کی وجہ سے ان کی نثر مشکل ہوگئی ہے۔ اسی طرح انہوں نے فارسی اشعار کو بھی شامل کیا ہے۔ لیکن سرشار کی نثر کی خصوصیت یہ ہے کہ مشکل ہونے کے باوجود ان کی نثر میں ایک الگ طرح کا حسن اور رنگینی موجود ہے جو قاری کو اپنی طرف متوجہ کرتی ہے۔زیر نظر کہانی   ان کی فارسی سے اردو زبان میں  کی گئی ترجمہ شدہ کہانیوں میں سے لیے گئی ہے  ۔کیسےجنگل کے طاقتور بادشاہ کو ایک انسان نے اپنی قید میں کر لیا؟ باقی جانوروں  کے ساتھ انسان نے کیا کیا ؟ جانوروں کی انسان کے بارے میں کیا رائے تھی؟ آئیے جاننے کے لیے کہانی پڑھتے ہیں ۔

پنڈت رتن ناتھ سرشار  ایک مضمون نگار تھے۔ وہ اپنی خداداد قابلیت کی وجہ سے جلد ہی شہرت کی بلندیوں کو پہنچ گئے۔انھوں نے الہ آباد ہائی کورٹ میں کچھ عرصہ مترجم کی حیثیت سے بھی کام کیا۔پنڈت رتن ناتھ   نے  الف لیلہ کا فصیح و بلیغ اردو زبان میں   ترجمہ کیا جو بذاتِ خود ایک شاہکار مانا جاتا ہے۔زیر نظر  کہانی اسی داستان سے ایک اقتباس  ہے ۔جس میں بیان کیا گیا ہے کہ طاؤس کا ایک جوڑا کسی سمندر کے کنارے رہتا تھا ۔ دونوں کھانے پینے کےلیے اڑتے اور واپس اپنے گھونسلے میں آجاتے مگر ایک بار انہیں کچھ خطرہ محسوس ہوا تو انہوں نے ہجرت کر لی۔اب وہ ایک جزیرے میں رہنے لگے ۔ ایک دن انہیں ایک بط ملا  جو خوف سے کانپ رہا تھا۔ مور کے پوچھنےپربط نے خوف کی کیا وجہ بتائی؟بط کو  شیر  نے کیا روداد سنائی؟گدھا،گھوڑااور اونٹ کس سے خوفزدہ تھےاور کیوں ؟ان تمام جانوروں کو ان کے باپ دادا نے کیا نصیحتیں کی تھیں ؟ یہ جاننے کے لیے کہانی پڑھیے۔
