Laura E. Richards (1850–1943)

Laura E. Richards was an American writer and poet who produced nearly one hundred books for adults and children. She became especially known for children’s fiction and nonsense verse, including Captain January. With her sister Maud Howe Elliott, she co-wrote a biography of their mother, Julia Ward Howe, which received the 1917 Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
