The Windmill tells the story of a grand, self-important windmill that believes itself to be wise and full of life. It thinks deeply about its purpose, the world around it, and the little “thoughts” within that make it function. One day, the mill realizes it will be rebuilt, transformed from old beams and bricks into something entirely new, yet still “itself.” But before that can happen, a disaster strikes, and the mill is reduced to ashes. Will the windmill truly be reborn as it hoped, or will it be forgotten in the dust? How does the miller’s family rebuild, and what becomes of the windmill’s “thoughts” in the new mill?
