Ismail Merathi
Ismail Merathi (1844–1917)
Ismail Merathi was an Indian Urdu poet, teacher, educationist, and pioneer of modern Urdu nazm. He is especially remembered for poems and textbooks written for children in clear, purposeful language. Works such as “Hamari Gaye” and “Barish Ka Pehla Qatra” helped make poetry a lasting medium of learning and moral education.
