ڈاکٹر رشید جہاں  کا شمار ترقی پسند تحریک کے بنیاد گزاروں میں ہوتا ہے۔بحیثیت ڈاکٹر ان کا تقرر لکھنؤ میں ہوا تھا جہاں انھوں نے ترقی پسندو ں کے ساتھ مل کر انجمن ترقی پسند مصنفین کو بہت تقویت پہنچائی تھی۔ ان کے افسانوں کی ایک اہم بات یہ ہے کہ وہ کردار وں کی مناسبت سے زبان کا استعمال کرتی ہیں۔ ان کی یہی خوبی ا ن کے تحریر کردہ افسانوں میں جان ڈال دیتی ہے۔زیر نظر کہانی میں ملکہ بیگم نا می خاتون اپنے سفر کا حال بیان کرتی ہیں ۔  وہ اپنی ملنے والیوں میں پہلی خاتون تھیں جنہوں نے ریل کا سفر کیا تھا لہٰذا اب وہ بیٹھی قصے سنارہی تھیں ۔ ملکہ بیگم کا یہ سفر کیسا رہا؟سارے سفر میں وہ کیوں ڈری سہمی رہیں؟آئیے سفر کی روداد جاننے کے لیے پڑھتے ہیں۔

ڈاکٹر  رشید جہاں ہندوستان میں اردو کی ایک ترقی پسند مصنفہ، قصہ گو،افسانہ نگار اور ناول نگار تھیں، جنھوں نے خواتین کی طرف سے تحریری اردو ادب کے ایک نئے دور کا آغاز کیا۔ وہ پیشے سے ایک ڈاکٹر تھیں۔ رشید جہاں ترقی پسند تحریک کی ایک سرگرم رکن  بھی تھیں ۔زیر نظر کہانی میں مصنفہ ایک  چور کا قصہ بیان کرتی ہیں جو کچھ دن پہلے ہی ان کے گھر کا سارا سامان چوری کر کے لے گیا تھا۔ مگر جب وہ اپنے بیمار بچے کو ان کے پاس لے کر آیا تو ڈاکٹر صاحبہ نے اس کو پولیس کے حوالے کیوں نہیں کیا ؟  یہ قصہ جاننے کے لیے  پڑھیے۔
