Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888)

Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist, short-story writer, and poet best known for Little Women, inspired in part by her family life. She also served as a Union nurse during the Civil War and wrote Hospital Sketches from that experience. Her fiction explores family, work, independence, moral growth, and the aspirations of young women.
