Charles Perrault (1628–1703)
Charles Perrault was a French author and member of the Académie Française whose literary fairy tales became foundational to the European fairy-tale tradition. His 1697 collection included Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, and Sleeping Beauty. His elegant retellings helped preserve and popularize these stories for later generations.
